Ukraine has arrested the property of Gazprom: Sergey Vodolagin quoted by “Gazeta.ru” edition

Gazprom received a notification on the arrest of its shares in Gaztranzit in Ukraine. The said property has been arrested within the proceedings regarding the breach of Ukrainian antitrust legislation by Gazprom.

Apart from 40 % in Gaztranzit, Gazprom owns 40 % in OJSC “YuzhNIIGiprogaz”, in LLC “Gazpromsbyt Ukraine” in Ukraine. The aggregate value of all assets belonging to Gazprom in Ukraine equals to approximately $ 10 million. At the same time, the claims of Kiev equal to $ 7,1 at present.

“In case there is an effective decision of the Ukrainian court in relation to Gazprom, such decision can be enforced by the Ukrainian authorities on the Ukrainian territory only. If there are assets of Gazprom in Ukraine, such assets may be arrested” – said the partner of Westside law firm, Sergey Vodolagin. At the same time, Mr. Vodolagin fears, that the gas in transit may also be regarded as the asset of Gazprom and may be arrested by Ukrainian authorities. Such approach will make problematic the transit of gas through Ukrainian territory, warns Mr. Vodolagin.
